Electrolysis FAQs

What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. It works by using a tiny amount of electricity to destroy the hair follicle at the root, preventing future growth.

Is electrolysis safe?

Yes, electrolysis is a safe and proven method. Our practice follows strict sterilization and clinical hygiene protocols to ensure a professional and safe environment for every client.

What are the common side effects?

Most clients experience slight redness or localized swelling immediately after treatment, which usually subsides within a few hours. Following our aftercare instructions helps minimize any irritation.

Who is a good candidate for electrolysis?

Everyone is a candidate! Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis is effective for all hair types (fine to coarse) and all skin tones, including gray, blonde, and red hair.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

We recommend arriving with clean skin, free of lotions. Ensure the hair is long enough to be grasped by tweezers (about 1/8 inch). Avoid caffeine before your appointment to minimize sensitivity.

What is the necessary aftercare?

Keep the area clean and avoid touching it. We recommend applying a soothing antiseptic or aloe vera. Stay out of the sun and avoid swimming or intense sweating for 24-48 hours post-treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

Hair growth cycles vary, and multiple sessions are required to achieve permanent results. The total number of treatments depends on the density of the hair and the area being treated.

Preparation, Aftercare & Results

Preparation

Aftercare & Frequency

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Ensure the hair is long enough to be grasped by tweezers (about 1/8 inch). Avoid caffeine and heavy exercise before your session to keep the skin calm. Hydrate well, as well-hydrated skin allows for easier treatment.

What is the recommended aftercare?

Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching it with unwashed hands. Apply a soothing gel if recommended and avoid sun exposure, pools, and heavy makeup for 24–48 hours to allow the follicles to heal properly.

Can I shave between treatments?

Yes, shaving is permitted between appointments. However, you must stop shaving 2–4 days prior to your session so the hair is visible and long enough for our specialists to treat effectively.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on hair density, growth cycles, and previous hair removal methods. Consistency is key; most clients achieve permanent results through a series of scheduled appointments over several months.
